Bali, 12–15 November 2025 — Golden Gate School (GGS) Makassar once again demonstrated its consistency as a high-achieving institution. At the 7th International Science and Invention Fair (ISIF) held in Bali, three representative teams from GGS Makassar successfully brought home two gold medals and one silver medal. This achievement further reinforces the school’s strong research culture that has long been embedded within its academic environment.
This year’s ISIF featured more than 350 teams from 27 countries across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The competition was highly competitive, showcasing innovative scientific works across various fields. Despite the tough competition, GGS Makassar students remained confident and demonstrated strong research capabilities that were highly relevant to global issues. Intensive preparation took place from August to November 2025, and the results were well rewarded with this remarkable accomplishment.
The three competing teams represented different research fields:
1. Utilization of Fish Offal as Organic Fertilizer (Gold Medal)
Guided by Richsan and led by team leader Lady, this research explored the innovation of converting fish offal into liquid organic fertilizer based on a circular economy approach. This product stands as the first innovation in Eastern Indonesia to transform unused organic waste into environmentally friendly fertilizer. The study was praised for its relevance to sustainable agriculture and its alignment with the environmental vision of Indonesia Emas 2045.

2. Mangrove Carbon Credit for Coastal Resilience (Gold Medal)
Supervised by Kadek and led by team leader Lovely, this project examined the role of mangrove forests in carbon sequestration and in strengthening coastal resilience. The research highlighted the importance of coastal ecosystems as a key pillar of future environmental sustainability while presenting potential innovations in the green economy sector.

3. Family Economic Conditions and Academic Stress Among Teenagers (Silver Medal)
Guided by Fauziah and led by Jessica Audrey, this team investigated how family economic factors influence students’ levels of academic stress. The study offers new insights into the psychological dynamics of learners and emphasizes the importance of family support for educational success.

The Principal of Golden Gate School Makassar, Muhammad Richsan, expressed deep appreciation for the hard work of both students and supervising teachers.
“Since the first time we participated in ISIF, Golden Gate School Makassar has never missed winning a medal. This golden tradition has been maintained since 2019 and continues to this day. These achievements are born from the dedication of supervising teachers, the brilliant ideas they help shape, and the tireless efforts of our students.”
He emphasized that research at GGS Makassar is always designed to create real impact.
“Every research project we produce is implemented within our environment. For us, research is a living work that brings benefits — not merely something to be competed with.”
The International Science and Invention Fair (ISIF) is an international scientific competition organized by the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA). The 2025 edition marked its seventh year, bringing together young researchers from various countries to showcase their best innovations.
The achievement of two gold medals and one silver further strengthens Golden Gate School Makassar’s position as a leading institution in international scientific research. This success provides renewed motivation for the school to continue cultivating a strong culture of research and innovation, while inspiring more students to create, innovate, and excel.
